Esse est\u00e1gio acontece anos ap\u00f3s a infec\u00e7\u00e3o e tem diagn\u00f3stico desafiador pois, apesar de les\u00f5es direcionadores, chamamos o treponema palidum (agente etiol\u00f3gico da doen\u00e7a) de \u201co grande imitador\u201d. Isso porque ele pode simular v\u00e1rias manifesta\u00e7\u00f5es diferentes.\u00a0Nessa fase, o problema pode at\u00e9 causar cegueira.<\/p>\n<p>Mas, um novo estudo apontou que a Tomografia de Coer\u00eancia \u00d3ptica (OCT), exame oftalmol\u00f3gico comum no SUS, pode ajudar na identifica\u00e7\u00e3o precoce da s\u00edfilis ocular. O trabalho foi feito pela Universidade de S\u00e3o Paulo (USP) e publicado recentemente no peri\u00f3dico\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1080\/09273948.2021.1892152?journalCode=ioii20&amp;\">Ocular Immunology and Inflammation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Em seguida, saiba como a pesquisa foi realizada, os resultados e quais devem ser os pr\u00f3ximos passos para o uso de OCT no diagn\u00f3stico da doen\u00e7a.<\/p>\n<h2>O estudo<\/h2>\n<p>Pesquisadores da Faculdade de Medicina de Ribeir\u00e3o Preto (FMRP), da USP, avaliaram um dos olhos de 54 pacientes com s\u00edfilis ocular internados no Hospital das Cl\u00ednicas da FMRP (HCFMRP). Ap\u00f3s parte receber o tratamento, os cientistas ainda analisaram 31 olhos.<\/p>\n<p>Por meio do exame de Tomografia de Coer\u00eancia \u00d3ptica (OCT), os pesquisadores encontraram les\u00f5es na retina que podem auxiliar no diagn\u00f3stico\u00a0precoce da doen\u00e7a.<\/p>\n<h2>Os resultados<\/h2>\n<p>O exame oftalmol\u00f3gico identificou manchas arredondadas, irregularidades, eleva\u00e7\u00f5es e descolamento nas retinas estudadas. De acordo com os autores do trabalho, \u00e9 a primeira vez que o OCT verifica altera\u00e7\u00f5es frequentes na retina em uma grande s\u00e9rie de casos de s\u00edfilis ocular. Essas modifica\u00e7\u00f5es s\u00e3o impercept\u00edveis no exame cl\u00ednico.<\/p>\n<p>Sem d\u00favida, os achados de OCT t\u00eam valor diagn\u00f3stico na s\u00edfilis ocular, mas n\u00e3o predizem o progn\u00f3stico. Entretanto, o exame, comum no SUS e em cl\u00ednicas particulares, pode ajudar na visualiza\u00e7\u00e3o de ind\u00edcios da doen\u00e7a ainda no est\u00e1gio inicial.
