S\u00c3O PAULO – O prot\u00f3tipo de um equipamento que faz exames de retina usando um smartphone vai representar o Brasil em uma competi\u00e7\u00e3o internacional de inova\u00e7\u00e3o realizada no pr\u00f3ximo m\u00eas na Alemanha. O aparelho, batizado como Smart Retinal Camera (SRC), foi desenvolvido por tr\u00eas ex-alunos da Universidade de S\u00e3o Paulo (USP) em S\u00e3o Carlos e \u00e9 uma vers\u00e3o port\u00e1til do retin\u00f3grafo, aparelho que permite observar e registrar imagens da retina.<\/p>\n

“Nosso objetivo \u00e9 ajudar comunidades carentes, algumas cidades mais pobres nem t\u00eam oftalmologistas e um equipamento de mesa custa de 70 a 80 mil d\u00f3lares. O que a gente espera \u00e9 que ele tenha um custo dez vezes menor do que o equipamento padr\u00e3o”, diz o engenheiro de computa\u00e7\u00e3o Jos\u00e9 Augusto Stuchi, um dos criadores do projeto.<\/p>\n

Ele tamb\u00e9m \u00e9 cofundador e engenheiro da Phelcom, startup criada pelo grupo para desenvolver o prot\u00f3tipo, que foi financiado pelo Programa Pesquisa Inovativa em Pequenas Empresas (PIPE) da Funda\u00e7\u00e3o de Amparo \u00e0 Pesquisa do Estado de S\u00e3o Paulo (FAPESP).<\/p>\n

Stuchi conta que o projeto teve in\u00edcio h\u00e1 dois anos e um olho mec\u00e2nico foi utilizado para fazer os testes. “Com esse equipamento, um operador pode fazer o exame. As imagens ser\u00e3o capturadas pelo celular e enviadas para nuvem para an\u00e1lise de um m\u00e9dico por meio de telemedicina. Com ele, \u00e9 poss\u00edvel ver o fundo de olho e examinar pacientes com diabetes, pessoas que podem desenvolver glaucoma, retinopatia e degenera\u00e7\u00e3o macular relacionada \u00e0 idade. Todos os problemas de retina podem ser detectados com esse retin\u00f3grafo”, explica.<\/p>\n

Para os testes em seres humanos, o grupo est\u00e1 verificando a possibilidade de fazer em universidades ou solicitar uma autoriza\u00e7\u00e3o para a Ag\u00eancia Nacional de Vigil\u00e2ncia Sanit\u00e1ria (Anvisa). A expectativa \u00e9 que, at\u00e9 2018, o aparelho j\u00e1 esteja no mercado.<\/p>\n

Competi\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/strong>\u00a0No m\u00eas passado, os ex-alunos participaram\u00a0da edi\u00e7\u00e3o nacional do Falling Walls Lab, competi\u00e7\u00e3o de solu\u00e7\u00f5es inovadoras que podem contribuir para a sociedade nas mais diversas \u00e1reas. Ao todo, concorreram 94 projetos. Na final, que ser\u00e1 realizada nos dias 8 e 9 de novembro na Alemanha, eles ter\u00e3o de enfrentar 99 concorrentes de v\u00e1rias partes do mundo.<\/p>\n
