Desse total, 1 bilh\u00e3o de casos seriam evit\u00e1veis ou pass\u00edveis de corre\u00e7\u00e3o se as pessoas recebessem os cuidados necess\u00e1rios, como diagn\u00f3sticos precoces e tratamentos efetivos. Isto inclui problemas como miopia, catarata, glaucoma e hipermetropia.<\/p>\n<p>De fato, \u00e9 essencial o desenvolvimento de novas tecnologias para ajudar pacientes e especialistas no controle de doen\u00e7as dos olhos. Por isso, vamos falar neste post sobre a ferramenta Votus, elaborada pelo doutorando Danilo Motta, na Universidade de S\u00e3o Paulo (USP).<\/p>\n<p>Saiba o que \u00e9 o Votus, como funciona e como esse novo dispositivo auxiliar\u00e1 na interpreta\u00e7\u00e3o precisa de exames de fundoscopia.<\/p>\n<h2>O Votus<\/h2>\n<p>O Votus (Teoria do Transporte \u00d3timo Aplicado ao Registro de Imagens de Retina, em tradu\u00e7\u00e3o livre) \u00e9 um modelo computacional de alta performance que promete auxiliar na melhor interpreta\u00e7\u00e3o das imagens fornecidas pelos exames de fundoscopia.<\/p>\n<p>O dispositivo foi desenvolvido como tese de doutorado pelo pesquisador Danilo Motta, no Instituto de Ci\u00eancias Matem\u00e1ticas (ICMS) da Universidade de S\u00e3o Paulo (USP), em S\u00e3o Carlos.<\/p>\n<p>A ferramenta matem\u00e1tica parte da Teoria do Transporte \u00d3timo, metodologia empregada em diferentes linhas de pesquisa. No Votus, a teoria estabelece a rela\u00e7\u00e3o entre dois grafos. Neste caso, cada um representa o emaranhado de veias de um olho capturado em momentos distintos.<\/p>\n<p>Para voc\u00ea entender melhor, o dispositivo foi constru\u00eddo a partir da defini\u00e7\u00e3o de uma representa\u00e7\u00e3o matem\u00e1tica das imagens de retina. Depois, estabeleceu-se as rela\u00e7\u00f5es de alinhamento para duas fotos.\u00a0Em seguida, foram feitas remo\u00e7\u00f5es dos tra\u00e7os incongruentes e o c\u00e1lculo do melhor modelo geom\u00e9trico para realizar a tarefa de registro. Nessa etapa, a an\u00e1lise sistem\u00e1tica de tr\u00eas bases de dados demonstrou que o Votus \u00e9 estatisticamente mais eficiente que os outros dez m\u00e9todos de refer\u00eancia comparados no estudo.<\/p>\n<p>Al\u00e9m disso, oftalmologistas tamb\u00e9m foram convidados a testar o dispositivo. As rea\u00e7\u00f5es foram extremamente positivas.<\/p>\n<p>A ferramenta mostrou-se eficaz no tratamento de pares de imagens com alta contamina\u00e7\u00e3o por ru\u00eddo, diferen\u00e7as bruscas de contraste visual e mudan\u00e7as de dif\u00edcil percep\u00e7\u00e3o ao olhar humano.<\/p>\n<p>Desse modo, o Votus colabora na identifica\u00e7\u00e3o precisa de doen\u00e7as oculares como retinopatia diab\u00e9tica, degenera\u00e7\u00e3o macular relacionada \u00e0 idade (DMRI), descolamento de retina etc.<\/p>\n<p><em>Com informa\u00e7\u00f5es de Fabiana Mariz, do Jornal da USP. <\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Conclus\u00e3o<\/h2>\n<p>Agora, voc\u00ea conhece a nova ferramenta matem\u00e1tica que promete auxiliar m\u00e9dicos e profissionais da sa\u00fade no controle de doen\u00e7as oculares: o Votus.
