Os pesquisadores analisaram genes expressos pela c\u00f3rnea em v\u00e1rios modelos de camundongos \u2013 n\u00e3o apenas com olho seco, mas tamb\u00e9m com diabetes e outras condi\u00e7\u00f5es. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Eles descobriram que a c\u00f3rnea ativava a express\u00e3o do gene SPARCem roedores apenas com olho seco. Al\u00e9m disso, tamb\u00e9m identificaram que a express\u00e3o mais alta desse gene foi associada a uma melhor cicatriza\u00e7\u00e3o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Dessa forma, os cientistas acreditam que alguns genes, particularmente o SPARC, podem fornecer alvos terap\u00eauticos potenciais para o tratamento de olho seco e les\u00f5es na c\u00f3rnea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Caso as prote\u00ednas encontradas n\u00e3o funcionarem como terapias para ativar essas c\u00e9lulas em pessoas com s\u00edndrome do olho seco no futuro, a equipe levantou a possibilidade de at\u00e9 mesmo transplantar c\u00e9lulas-tronco l\u00edmbicas projetadas para prevenir les\u00f5es na c\u00f3rnea nestes pacientes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
O pesquisador Rajendra S. Apte explica que milh\u00f5es de pessoas em todo o mundo, sendo cerca de 15 milh\u00f5es apenas nos Estados Unidos, sofrem com dores oculares e vis\u00e3o turva como resultado de complica\u00e7\u00f5es e les\u00f5es associadas \u00e0 doen\u00e7a do olho seco. \u201cAo direcionar essas prote\u00ednas, podemos ser capazes de tratar com mais sucesso ou mesmo prevenir essas les\u00f5es\u201d, ressaltou em comunicado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
