Ela foi capaz de reconhecer pessoas, luzes, letras e objetos pr\u00f3ximos.<\/p>\n<p>Dois anos depois, o cons\u00f3rcio constitu\u00eddo por cientistas de diversos institutos e respons\u00e1vel pelo projeto divulgou novos avan\u00e7os. Em seguida, entenda melhor como a neuropr\u00f3tese pode restaurar a vis\u00e3o de deficientes visuais<em>. <\/em><\/p>\n<h2>A pesquisa<\/h2>\n<p>Pesquisadores de diversos institutos, como o Instituto Holand\u00eas de Neuroci\u00eancia, a Universidade de Twente, a Universidade Radboud, a Universidade de Maastricht e a Universidade de Tecnologia de Eindhoven, desenvolveram um \u00f3culos capaz de transmitir imagens para o c\u00e9rebro em pacientes cegos e, dessa forma, permitir que eles pudessem enxergar.<\/p>\n<p>Para isso, o equipamento possui uma c\u00e2mera que tira fotos e as envia para serem processadas por um pequeno computador, instalado na parte de tr\u00e1s do pesco\u00e7o. Por exemplos, os primatas conseguiram reconhecer formas, objetos em movimento e linhas.<\/p>\n<p>Contudo, \u00e9 necess\u00e1rio aumentar a quantidade de eletrodos para que humanos possam enxergar com uma qualidade razo\u00e1vel. Outro empecilho no momento \u00e9 que o chip funciona com uma corrente el\u00e9trica 1 miliwatt. Outras pesquisas que implantaram chips similares causaram ataques epil\u00e9ticos conforme a eletricidade passava pelo cr\u00e2nio.<\/p>\n<p>Al\u00e9m de recuperar parte da vis\u00e3o, um dos objetivos da tecnologia ser sem fio \u00e9 diminuir o risco de poss\u00edveis infec\u00e7\u00f5es no c\u00e9rebro.<\/p>\n<p>De fato, h\u00e1 outros estudos nessa \u00e1rea. Por\u00e9m, esse \u00e9 o primeiro a n\u00e3o usar os olhos e nervos \u00f3pticos para o paciente voltar a enxergar. Nesta pesquisa, os cientistas levaram em considera\u00e7\u00e3o que muitas les\u00f5es ocorrem no sistema nervoso que conecta a retina. Ou seja, n\u00e3o necessariamente no globo ocular.
