A pesquisa contou com amostras de 649 pacientes, sendo 432 portadores da doen\u00e7a e 217 pacientes saud\u00e1veis.<\/p>\n<p>De acordo com a Organiza\u00e7\u00e3o Mundial de Sa\u00fade (OMS), o glaucoma atinge 70 milh\u00f5es de pessoas no mundo todo. S\u00f3 no Brasil, s\u00e3o 900 mil casos. De fato, o problema \u00e9 uma das principais causas de cegueira irrevers\u00edvel no mundo.<\/p>\n<p>Com o estudo, os pesquisadores conquistaram o objetivo principal: utilizar a Intelig\u00eancia Artificial (IA) para ajudar os m\u00e9dicos a diagnosticar esta doen\u00e7a de maneira mais eficiente. Ali\u00e1s, a tecnologia utiliza o exame de OCT (Tomografia de Coer\u00eancia \u00d3ptica) da retina e consegue detectar o glaucoma na mesma hora.<\/p>\n<p>Mas o trabalho n\u00e3o para por a\u00ed: os pesquisadores pretendem investigar os potenciais biomarcadores do glaucoma, o que pode levar a um entendimento mais profundo do dist\u00farbio.<\/p>\n<h2>Glaucoma<\/h2>\n<p>O glaucoma \u00e9 uma doen\u00e7a que afeta os olhos e \u00e9 caracterizado por um aumento da press\u00e3o intraocular e por uma altera\u00e7\u00e3o do nervo \u00f3ptico. As fibras nervosas s\u00e3o afetadas e ocorre a perda parcial da vis\u00e3o. O problema \u00e9 divididos em quatro tipos:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Glaucoma de \u00e2ngulo aberto (cr\u00f4nico): n\u00e3o apresenta sintomas na fase inicial, apenas quando a doen\u00e7a est\u00e1 em est\u00e1gio avan\u00e7ado. Neste caso, n\u00e3o h\u00e1 mais chances de amenizar as sequelas.<\/li>\n<li>Glaucoma de \u00e2ngulo fechado (agudo): mais raro, apresenta dor e vermelhid\u00e3o nos olhos.<\/li>\n<li>Glaucoma cong\u00eanito: ainda mais raro, \u00e9 heredit\u00e1rio e costuma ser adquirido durante a gravidez, quando a m\u00e3e passa o problema para o beb\u00ea.<\/li>\n<li>Glaucoma secund\u00e1rio: \u00e9 causado por outros fatores, como doen\u00e7as nos olhos, dist\u00farbios sist\u00eamicos, traumas e at\u00e9 o uso de alguns medicamentos, como corticosteroides.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Neste \u00faltimo tipo, encaixa-se o <a href=\"https:\/\/phelcom.com\/blog\/descubra-diabetes-afeta-a-visao\/\">glaucoma neovascular<\/a>. O problema acontece devido \u00e0s complica\u00e7\u00f5es da diabetes.<\/p>\n<h3>Sintomas<\/h3>\n<p>Como falamos, o glaucoma \u00e9 uma doen\u00e7a assintom\u00e1tica na fase inicial.
